The story of HZI

The company HZI was founded in 1989. It all began in a small garage.

Already from the beginning Kurt Bubik produced many special solutions in the mechanical engineering sector. Examples include a small series of mobile hydraulic power units with petrol or diesel engines for applications in tunnel construction up to 700 bar operating pressure. In the early 1990s, also large series of hydraulic lines and hose systems for e.g., snow machines were produced. HZI delivers many components particularly for snow machines and introduced standards in this area. In the middle of the 90s the company started with vehicle construction. Since that time HZI has been manufacturing forest trailers with crane superstructures, truck superstructures, superstructures for Liebherr and CAT as well as various special vehicles. A further milestone in the production of steel structures for use in via ferrata, platforms, flying fox systems, suspension and cable bridges was set at the end of the 90s.

Due to lack of space in the building constructed in 1992 in the Imst industrial zone, the company moved to the generously constructed building in the Arzl im Pitztal industrial park in 2002.

At this new location, many special solutions could be realized and manufactured, such as large and small truck bodies with loading cranes, truck platform bodies, forest crane bodies, back brackets for salt and coal mining, shotcrete vehicles for tunnel construction, wood chips vehicles, wood chips bunker covers, etc. An important area for HZI are the applications and their production for Alpine technologies, such as weir and sand trap for snow-making plants, huts and small power plants. Furthermore, HZI is the largest manufacturer in the field of all equipment for the construction of via ferrata and thus operates worldwide. The product range is completed by the development, production and distribution of petrol drilling machines for outdoor use. The program is rounded off by a variety of equipment accessories such as mixer shovels, crane baskets, grabs, forest tongs, rotators and so on.
